HBCU Elite 100 Camp Attracts Division 1 Level Talent
Through the turmoil of Covid-19 there were many opportunities missed due to quarantine and the summer season being canceled. College Hoops Connect teamed with AEBL Hoops and invited 120 players from around the Southeast to Atlanta to showcase their skills in front of the Nation’s top HBCU, Division II, and Junior College programs. Here are some of the top performers from the HBCU Elite 100 Camp

Shamar Wingfield 6’0 2021 PG | Westover High school (GA) | @WingfieldShamir
Wingfield is a true point guard. He likes to push the ball and create in transition. He is very efficient shooting the mid range jumper but is a dependable shooter behind the arc. Wingfield is a tenacious on ball defender that picks up 94 feet. He brings toughness, leadership, and play making ability. Wingfield is has picked up interest from DI, DII, and JUCO programs. Logan Stephens 6’2 2021 CG | Woodward Academy (GA) | @logan30stephens
Stephens is a strong, physical guard that impose his will on smaller guards. He is able to get downhill and finish at the rim through contact. He has a natural scorer that excels at making shots in the mid range and beyond off the bounce or catch. When engaged, he brings good defensive energy. He has a college frame and understands the game. Stephens will be a solid DII guard but could potentially land on a DI roster.
Bol Kuir 7’3 2022 C | Belfey High School (KY)
Kuir’s length was a distraction for several players attacking the rim. He has good timing and defensive instincts. He has average lateral movement but gets out runs the floor in transition. In the post, he prefers to score with his back to the basket but showed signs of facing up. He is a big target that demands attention on the court. With more offensive development, Kuir has the ability to a dominate player on both ends.
Aaron Pitts 6’3 SG | Hardaway High School (GA) |
Pitts was one of the best athletes at camp. He has serious elevation on his jumper and attacks the basket ferociously. More impressively, he will challenge anyone at the rim. Pridgett is a true floor leader that also has an uncanny knack to score the ball. He is able to get into the lane and make good decisions. He plays with good pace in ball screen action and has mastered the floater in the lane. He is going to defend and hold teammates accountable. He led his team to 3-0 on the day. Jackson Price 6’9 F/C | Hiram High School (GA) | @jprice_24
Price has good hands and can finish around the basket in multiple ways. He looked comfortable facing up and attacking the basket. In ball screen action, Price showed 3-point range as well made aggressive finishes at the rim. He runs the floor and knows how to use his body to create scoring angles in the post and comfortably knocks down the elbow jumper. He is sneaky athletically but has a good IQ for the game. Smith showcased his elite defensive ability at camp. With his long wingspan, he was able to alter shots and made impressive blocks all day. He showed he is capable of making shots from 15-17 feet but it’s clear his biggest impact is on the defensive side. The undersized post is a relentless rebounder who can also put the ball on the floor and create offense. With a college frame, Smith was the strongest player in camp. Aaron Reddish 6’7 SF | Pebble Brook High School (GA) |
Reddish play was stellar all day. He consistently made shots within the flow of the games from all three levels. He is an extremely good slasher who can finish with both hands, and with his superb athleticism, Reddish can easily finish with monstrous dunks or acrobatic layups. His shiftiness allowed him to create for others which made it difficult for him to be guarded. Rebounding and pushing the ball in transition were skills that also stood out. Edwards is a shifty lead guard that has the ability to fill up the score board or get double digit assist. He was able to get into the lane and make plays all day. He is a three level scorer that can finish through contact. He plays with poise and a chip on his shoulder. He is a good on ball defender that is able to keep his man in front of him. He’s vocal on the court but is going to back everything up. Edwards picked up an offer from Miles College at camp but has garnered the attention from multiple DII schools. SIGNED MILES COLLEGE

Jaylen is a silky smooth scoring guard with the ability to put up big numbers. Although he's a 3 level scorer, he is really good a picking his points to score. He has good length which allows him to shoot over smaller defenders, and he is a gifted athlete that can make acrobatic plays in the lane. Jaylen can be a second ball handler and is an effective rebounder.
Evan Howell 6’9 C | Brookwood High School (GA) | @evanhowell
Howell was one of the surprises at camp. He used his length and frame to alter shots in the lane and was very active on the glass. Howell played with high energy, and finished several drop offs with monster dunks. He looked impressive running the floor. He has a soft touch around the basket and the ability to face up and attack. Howell has a high ceiling and with more development on the offensive end, he has the ability to play low DI, DII/NAIA. SIGNED TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY

Pissi is a physical lead guard that looks to push the ball in transition. He is a good on ball defender with great defensive instincts. He is consistently in attack mode which allowed him to create easy scoring opportunities for teammates. Additionally, he is a 3-level scorer with great form on his shot, and that finishes at the basket through contact. Pissi plays with good pace, is a vocal leader, and extremely bright player. Tinsley is a smart, lightning quick guard that prides himself on getting into the paint. He can finish in a variety of ways or find teammates for easy buckets. He is a three-level scorer that controls the pace of the game. Tinsley makes good reads in pick in roll situations and can stroke it from deep range. He is cat quick and pressures the ball 94 feet. Tinsley has the ability to play as a freshman in college. He has offers from Fort Valley State, Southern Wesleyan University, and picked up Miles College at the camp. SIGNED WITH CATAWBA COLLEGE

King is a smart all-around guard. He can score on all three levels, and he has good vision which allows him to create opportunities for teammates. Very unselfish, he plays with his head up and is always looking to make the next play. King made several athletic plays that ended with dunks, some over defenders. He is a relentless competitor with great defensive instincts on and off the ball. He was active on the glass and was able to push the break and find early scoring opportunities. Deshon Proctor 6’6 F | Sandy Creek High School (GA) |
Proctor is a physical, high energy post player that made his presence felt on the glass and protecting the basket. He plays with tenacity and is a relentless rebounder. Proctor is comfortable playing with his back to the basket and does a good job finishing drop offs at the rim. He brings physicality and toughness, and is a good screener , and duck in for easy baskets. Proctor has been contact with DII/NAIA schools but may have some low DI opportunities if he continues to improve offensively. SIGNED HOUSTON BAPTIST

Gaines displayed his versatility at the forward position. He is able to push the break as well as create off the dribble in the half court. Gaines has a nice touch on his jumper and consistently knocked down shots at the elbow and beyond, He also has great defensive instincts which allows him to be in position to alter shots, and rebound. Due to Covid-19, Gaines didn’t play much AAU. He has an offer from Grambling State and several DII/NAIA schools that are interested.

Randolph is an athletic and physical guard that attacks the baskets with an attitude. With his strong build, he is able to body guards to create separation for jumpers in the lane or finish at the rim over defenders. Randolph is a highlight waiting to happen. He has good form and elevation on his shot and is a consistent shooter from behind the arc when feet are set. Expecting his recruitment to jump this winter. Capable of playing at the low DI level.

Ballard is a floor general with a high IQ. He has his head up at all times and is looking to make the right play. He constantly applies pressure to opposing guards the length of the floor. Simmons was active in the paint defensively. He has long arms and was able to alter shots in the lane. Simmons also sprints the floor in transition and is good at getting tip backs and drop offs around the rim. Horace is a high energy guard/forward with a solid mid range game. He competes on the both ends and doesn’t require a lot of touches to impact the game. A three level scorer, Horace has good touch on his jump shot. He has a good feel for the game and with his length, he is able to get deflections in the passing lanes and turn into scoring opportunities. Robinson showcased his versatility throughout the day. He is a good shooter from multiple spots on the court. Robinson has a college frame and is able to post up smaller guards. Can play the off guard and forward spots on the floor. He was active on the glass and pushed the break. With his size and above average athleticism, he is able to create plays in the lane. Bennett is a high energy forward that thrives off his athleticism. He is a relentless rebounder on both ends and made several put backs and tip dunks. On defense, he was active and was in good position most of the time. Although his strength is slashing to the basket, he is also capable of making mid range and 3-point shots. Hard worker with great personality! Has interest from mid level DI and high DII programs.

St. Louis showcased a plethora of skills throughout the camp. Creating off the dribble and finishing at the basketball is what he did very well. He has good size and girth at the guard position and uses it for rebounding and shooting over smaller guards. He is a fierce competitor that plays with great energy and an above average athlete! Smith is a hybrid small/power forward. He plays with high energy and is a relentless rebounder. He showed the ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc and looked comfortable attacking off the dibble. Smith plays withing the flow of the offense, sets solid screens, and uses his body for leverage.
Mike Taylor 5’11 | Lee County High School | @mj_taylor3
Taylor is a cat-quick guard with great defensive instincts and fundamentals. He excels as pressuring the ball full court. On offense, he looks to attack for teammates but has the ability to score off the dribble or the catch. Davis is an elite shooter with NBA range. He has great size which allows him to shot over smaller defenders. He showcased his ability score off the catch or the dribble. He plays with good energy and has a good enough handle to get down hill and finish at the rim. Davis has offers from Oakland University, Denver, Eastern Michigan, and University of Detroit.
Jaylen Peterson 6’6 2022 | Stephenson High School | @hoodiejp
Peterson was a phenomenal shot blocker and high flyer. He finishes plays strong and is not afraid to have the ball in his hands with the game is on the line. He played well down the stretch and made big time plays for his team. Peterson has natural talent that’s waiting to explode. He ability to knock down the elbow jumper and attack the basket was impressive. I expect a breakout season and for his recruitment to take off. HAS OFFER FROM USC UPSTATE
Brandon Cromer G 2022 | Taft High (Ohio)
Cromer did a great job showcasing his ability to play from the perimeter. He was very active attacking the basket by finding the lane with his dribbling ability. Cromer was aggressive with the basketball and very unselfish. He was one of the most athletic small guards at the camp. He has the ability to finish plays at the rim over defenders or take the pull up jumper. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and competes on both ends.
Joakeim Celestin G 2021 Dawson County High School | @joakeimc
Celestin was outstanding showcasing his athletic ability, and his basketball IQ. He made smart on point decisions with the basketball and very rarely turned the ball over. It was very impressive the way he can read the court and set up plays for his teammates. He is a average 3-point shooter but finds many opportunities attacking the basket or making mid range shots. Celestin has an offer from Lagrange College.

Camari was efficient with his three point shooting and defense. He is a very feisty defender who plays with his feet and not his hands. Forced a lot of turnovers from the pressure he put on all the ball handlers. Camari showed the ability to get into the lane consistently and find teammates. SIGNED WITH TIME TO BALL PREP

Tims is a big body big man who understands how to use his body effectively in the paint. Has decent speed, and gives a 100% effort on both ends of the court. We loved his basketball instincts, he has a nice soft touch with his passing and will be great in pick and roll situations. Very rarely turned the ball over, what he lacks in athleticism he makes up for it with his will. Tims is a hidden gem and as he develops his overall game will be a steal of a prospect!
Remon Tuck 2021 G | North Crowley High School |
Tuck was very strong with the basketball and is a tough all around player. He is a volume scorer and once he gets it going he can score buckets in bunches. He plays through contact and gets stronger throughout the game, he very rarely takes plays off.
